Rotary Food Drive for Loaves and FishesThe Rotary Club of Ellsworth Food Drive at Hannaford to benefit the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry was a tremendous success on many levels. Community support was amazing with a total of 112 turkeys and $878 in cash donations! (We are waiting to hear how many pounds of food was donated) A total of 26 EHS students helped during the day and were still full of enough energy at the end of the food drive to empty the food truck and stock shelves. Rotary Food Drive for Loaves and FishesThe 15th Annual Rotary Food Drive is scheduled for this Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 9:00 am -2:00 pm at the Hannaford parking lot in Ellsworth for the benefit of the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. Our goal is to collect a "ton of turkeys" for the holiday season along with food goods to support those in need in our communities. |

WORLD POLIO DAY - October 24th |
2024 Polio WalkOctober 24th is World Polio Day. World Polio Day is a time for Rotary members, public health advocates, and all who want a world free from polio to come together, recognize our progress in the fight to end polio, and talk about the actions we need to take in order to end polio for good. The Rotary Club of Ellsworth held it's Annual Polio Walk today - Sunday, October 20th to spread awareness of Polio. After the walk, club members enjoyed pizza and pints at Fogtown Brewery. Fogtown Brewery donated a percentage of their proceeds to Polio from the weekend. Thank you for your support! Bangor Savings Bank Donation!The Ellsworth Maine Rotary Club Foundation received a generous donation of $2500 from Bangor Savings Bank for the DeMeyer Field Project. Groundwork for the project will begin in October. The playground has been delivered and is stored safely. There is still time to purchase a picket with the inscription of your choice to be placed on the fence surrounding the playground. A $250 donation provides the opportunity to become a permanent part of the DeMeyer Field Project. The deadline to purchase a picket is September 30th. To obtain a form, please go to the Rotary Club of Ellsworth website www:ellsworthrotary.org. |

The Rotary Gifting Experience - 12/9/2023Our club members plus some of our friends were happy to participate in the 18th annual Gifting Experience in Downtown Ellsworth on Saturday, December 9th. We assisted 20 area children in choosing and wrapping gifts for their family members. Community support was amazing with a total of 377 pounds of food donated, 89 turkeys, 1 ham and $2,605.19 in cash donations! A total of 28 EHS students helped during the day and were still full of enough energy at the end of the food drive to empty the food truck and stock shelves. Sixteen Rotarians volunteered as did two potential new members. We met many community members whom we haven't seen in a while. Thank you to everyone! 2023 Yellow Tulip ProjectThe Rotary Club of Ellsworth donated 246 tulips to the Yellow Tulip Project. The tulips were split between the Ellsworth schools. HCTC planted 60 tulips in two gardens by the entrance ramp. This is a student run project and in addition to planting yellow tulips two banners were made and will be hung in the hall where students can add words of encouragement to their hand prints. 2023 District Project - Window DressersRotary Clubs in District 7790 were asked by Past District Governor, Doug Curtis to consider helping support Window Dressers in their effort to provide volunteer assistance to those in need of winterization assistance. The Rotary Club of Ellsworth volunteered at St. Joseph's Catholic Church earlier this week with this project. Window Dressers is a Maine nonprofit, virtually run by volunteers. Their model involves each customer providing labor to help assemble inserts, but there are always some customers who are simply physically unable to participate, so other volunteers are vitally important to the success of the project. Rotary Food Drive - November 19thOn Saturday November 19th the Rotary Club of Ellsworth held its annual food drive for the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. This year the club added "The Ton of Turkey Challenge" - asking community members to donate a turkey to the challenge. The food drive was a complete success, receiving $2,078.34 in cash donations and 210 Turkeys total! |

Ton of Turkey ChallengeFrom now through Thanksgiving, the club is looking for help collecting 134 frozen turkeys for families served by the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. Frozen chickens are also welcome. For the purpose of the challenge goal, two frozen chickens equal one frozen turkey. Turkeys may be dropped off at the pantry at 137 Downeast Highway. Hours are Monday 9:30 a.m. to noon, Wednesday from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m. and Friday 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Frozen birds may also be dropped off at Rotary’s Tuesday night meetings through Nov. 15. The club meets at China Hill at 6 p.m. Financial contributions may be made at https://www.loavesandfishesellsworth.org/donate. |

We really appreciate everyone taking time on Friday and from your weekend to help. We also appreciate everyone selling tickets. The breakfast certainly was a success due to your participation. An event like this brings the community together. It was really nice having all the extra outside volunteers help! Early counts support over 700 individuals attending and currently we collected $6,600 in ticket sales with many Rotarians still bringing in funds. After 3 years, we feel this was a great success!! Loaves & Fishes Food Drive - 11/21/2020At the food drive on Saturday, we had perfect weather and a very generous community. We had food donations that filled the van along with an amazing $2,526.11 in cash donations for the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. We are truly fortunate to live in a community that is generous and caring. We would like thank all of the members, Interact members and the Ellsworth community at large who joined us in this very successful community project.

World Polio Day - October 24thTo assist The Rotary Club of Ellsworth celebrate World Polio Day, Rooster Brother in Ellsworth has agreed to donate $1 for every cup of coffee sold on Thursday October 24th. Every dollar raised by the Club is doubled By the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation so the $1 donated becomes $3 in the fight against polio!
