Rotarians Jack Frost and Saxon Tinto (both Bar Harbor Bank & Trust employees) presented President Jodie Cushing with a check for $2,000 for the Pancake Breakfast!
75th Anniversary Planning: A committee has been formed and all are welcome to join. The event is scheduled for June 28th, 2025 at the Moore Center.
Volunteer Hours: Please let Tricia Quirk know if you have volunteered in the community outside of Rotary.
Rotary Club Dues: Rotary dues are to be given to Tricia Quirk in person or mailed to the club at PO Box 741 in Ellsworth asap.
Rotary Blood Drives are the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Elks Lodge in Ellsworth. Please sign up to help. Shifts are from 11:00am to 2:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
RYLA – This September. Looking for candidates to attend ages 18-35. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where you develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections. An email was sent out to all members with more info.
2024 Rotary Blueberry Pancake Breakfast –Saturday, August 3rd! The breakfast is 7am to 10am at the Downeast Family YMCA. Our major sponsor is Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. District Governor Dino Marzaro will be there! Posters are available to put up around town or at your work. Tickets are available to buy or sell.
July 23rd Meeting at UMA in Ellsworth: This meeting will be at the University of Maine August extension at the Mill Mall. We will have a quick welcome then break out into our committees. Committee leaders please make sure you take notes so you can share with and absent members. If you are on a committee and are unable to attend in person, please notify your committee chair and they can call you during the meeting. This will be a great time for those of you not on a committee to scout out one you are interested in. Clyde will be hosting our first Rotary 101 course entitled “What is Rotary”. This is a bring your own meal meeting.

Guest Speaker: Troy Bires of the Ellsworth Police Department was our guest speaker. Dep. Chief Bires has been working for the Ellsworth Police Department since 1990. Bires worked his first 13 years in patrol specializing in OUI enforcement and becoming the departments first DRE. Bires was assigned to MDEA in 2004 and spent 14 years as an agent and assistant supervisory agent with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. In 2017 Bires was promoted to Captain and currently serves as the Departments second in command.
