At our club meeting this week our guest speaker was Jo Cooper. Jo is the Executive Director of Friends in Action, which serves seniors throughout our county through the senior center at the General Bryant E. Moore Community & Conference Center and with transportation and age in place programs.

We also celebrated being named the Member of the Week by the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and a very successful food drive for Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry.

We had a great project on November 11th! It was super cold, but the community support was on fire. We collected approximately 460 pounds of food, 86 of the Hannaford Helps boxes, and $1,140 in cash and check donations. To put that in perspective, that dollar amount will allow the Pantry to purchase a huge amount of dry goods at 6 cents a pound or a lot of meat at 16 cents a pound.

We want to thank the 18 Rotarians that came out to help and the 23 NHS high school students that came out to help. We provided 102 more man hours of community service!

Last night was Membership Night! We welcomed seven potential Rotarians, provided a lot of information of "What is Rotary?" and welcomed guest speaker Christopher Lewis, President of the American Wheelchair Mission!
The blood drive was a success with 50 pints donated and 27 Rotarians showing up to help out.  We also had five members from the EHS National Honor Society helping out in the canteen area.  Thank you everyone for showing up and making a difference.

Our club gave a check in the amount of $864.50 from our 1st Quarter Happy Dollars to the Hancock County Sherriff’s Department for K-9 Officer Finn to receive a bullet proof vest! Sheriff Scott Kane and Deputy Travis Frost were grateful of the donation and introduced Finn to the Club!

A special Rotary Pancake Breakfast in Ellsworth this morning. Thank you Seaport Village and V.N.A. Hospice for your great care.
