  • 1st Quarter Happy Dollars: A check in the amount of $835.00 was presented to Kelly from The Next Step for our 1st Quarter Happy Dollars!

  • Weekly Guest Speakers: Rhonda Parker is looking for Weekly Guest Speakers starting in January 2022 to July 2022. If anyone knows someone who would be a great speaker, please let her know. Next week's speaker will be from the Ellsworth Fire Dept. to talk about Fire Safety.
     
  • RLI – Rotary Leadership Institute: Carl Lusby encourages club members to sign-up for this year’s RLI. An email will be sent out for details. Classes are remote this year. Please let Carl or Gene know if you would like to sign-up!
     
  • Haven’s Candies Fundraiser: Back again this year! Our club is partnering with Haven’s Candies in Scarborough Maine to help raise money for the club during this challenging year.  Haven's Candies has generously agreed to donate 20% of all Ellsworth Rotary Club sales back to the Club. If you purchase $100 of candy or other items, Haven's will donate $20 directly to the Ellsworth Rotary Club. This will start in mid-November!
     
  • Membership Update: “Each One Bring One” Challenge: Bring a guest to Rotary and be entered in a drawing to win a prize! For each guest that attends with you at a Live Meeting, via Zoom, or brings a potential member to a Rotary Service, you’ll be entered into a drawing that many times to win a Toll House Pie! Questions, please contact JoAnn Brown.
     
  • “I AM ROTARY” signs and bumper stickers are available. Please display the sign at your office, when you’re out volunteering or at home! Please place the Bumper Sticker on your vehicle. We are hoping to see these in our community to get the word out about Rotary!
     
  • Greeter Sign-Up: Debbie Ehrlenbach is looking for Greeters for the month of October and November.  Please let her know if you are available to help.
     
  • Invocation Sign-Up: Rob Hemenway is looking for members who can help doing the weekly invocations at our meetings. He has sent out an email for the month of October and November. Contact Rob!
     
  • Holiday Club Party: This year our club will be wrapping presents for Kids Peace at the Party! Our club will be receiving a list of items children would like for Christmas from Kids Peace to shop for and we will wrap them at the party. Food and drinks will be provided.
Upcoming Community Service Events:
 
  • Blood Drive: The Blood Drive is the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. Please sign up for the month of October.  Max Dietshe thanks everyone for their continued help.
     
  • Walk for Polio – Saturday, October 23rd at Ellsworth High School at 10:00am. $20 to walk. Funds raised will go towards Polio Plus.  
     
  • Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry Building: We have an opportunity to help our friends from Loaves and Fishes on Sunday, October 24th beginning at 10am. This will be a construction job of ripping up and disposing of carpet in their new building. The new buildings address is 137 Down East Highway next to Darlings used vehicles. Please let Jodie Cushing know if you are able to come help!
     
  • Kids Peace Trunk or Treat – October 29th at 1pm. Candy donations are needed and anyone who can be there to help. Contact Gene Pellerano.
     
  • YMCA Trunk or Treat – October 30th – Set-up 4-5pm. Event is from 5- 7pm. Candy donations are needed and anyone who can attend to help. Contact Jodie Cushing.
     
  • Loaves and Fishes Food Drive: November 20th at Ellsworth Hannaford. A sign-up sheet has been around to sign up. Shifts are 9-11am, 11-1pm, 1-3pm the last shift stops at 2pm then follows the van back to the pantry to unload. Contact Jodie Cushing.
 
Guest Speaker: This week’s guest speaker was Brian Langley. Brian is the Executive Director of Bridge Academy, a program that facilitates the delivery of early college academics into secondary career and technical schools in Maine via high school teachers.
 
The mission of Bridge Academy is to provide a seamless pathway for students to gain real world technical skills at their local technical centers and enter into post-secondary programming prepared for success.  Currently, Bridge Academy operates in 8 of Maine's 27 Career and Technical regions with plans to be in all 27 regions.
