This week’s guest speaker was Andrew Sankey. Andrew serves as the Emergency Management director for Hancock County, Maine.
 
On Tuesday, August 25th at 6 PM, our club had a virtual meeting over the telephone and internet via Zoom.  President Laura Pellerano started the meeting.

Rotary Business:
  1. Membership Update: JoAnn Brown reported the committee is encouraging members to bring a perspective member to a meeting to be entered into a drawing for a gift card! The Passport Program is up and running again this year. Please fill out the passport by July 31st of 2021 and you will receive a Rotary Vest! 
  2. Foundation Update: Lincoln Ehrlenbach shared his goals for the year. Our club goal is to raise $6,000 to the Annual Fund. Lincoln believes we can and will do more than that. He would like to see 100% club participation towards Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY).
He reminded everyone that if you donate to the Annual Fund, 50% of it comes back to the District in 3 years. Money is distributed to clubs for grants for their communities. $70,000 came back to our district in 2019/2020. $60,000 has been approved for 2020/2021.
 
Those who donate will be entered into a drawing to win a $10 gift card! Jo Cooper won a $10 Gift Card to Dunkin Donuts!
 
As of today, Africa has been officially free of wild polio!! This is amazing!
  1. Community Service Update: Jodie Cushing reported the Next Step Playground will be worked on either Saturday September 12th or Saturday September 19th. She will be finalizing the details soon.
Guest Speaker:  This week’s guest speaker was Andrew Sankey. Andrew has served as the Emergency Management director for Hancock County, Maine, since February, 2012. He is a Maine Certified Emergency Manager and holds both the Professional Development Series and Advanced Professional Series FEMA practitioner certifications issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
