On Saturday November 19th the Rotary Club of Ellsworth held its annual food drive for the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. This year the club added "The Ton of Turkey Challenge" - asking community members to donate a turkey to the challenge. The food drive was a complete success, receiving $2,078.34 in cash donations and 210 Turkeys total!

This week’s guest speaker was Bonnie Harris. She is the project coordinator for the Penquis foster grandparent program.

From now through Thanksgiving, the club is looking for help collecting 134 frozen turkeys for families served by the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. Frozen chickens are also welcome. For the purpose of the challenge goal, two frozen chickens equal one frozen turkey.
Turkeys may be dropped off at the pantry at 137 Downeast Highway. Hours are Monday 9:30 a.m. to noon, Wednesday from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m. and Friday 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Frozen birds may also be dropped off at Rotary’s Tuesday night meetings through Nov. 15. The club meets at China Hill at 6 p.m. Financial contributions may be made at https://www.loavesandfishesellsworth.org/donate.

This week our guest speaker was Diane Lebson. Diane is the CEO and Co-Founder of Evergreen Philanthropic Solutions.

Today is World Polio Day. One Day. One Focus: Ending Polio.
World Polio Day is a time for #Rotary members from all over the world to come together, recognize our progress in our fight to #endpolio, and talk about the action we need to take to end polio for good. Watch our #WorldPolioDay 2022 Global Update: https://on.rotary.org/3fs7gFiW

Rotarians have been the leaders in the eradication of Polio world wide. Today’s walk provided 950 doses of Polio vaccine. With a 2:1 matching grant from the Bill and Melina Gates foundation that 950 doses becomes 2850! Way to go Ellsworth Rotarians!
