Opening Ceremonies: Past President Dave Wells called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with opening remarks and the pledge of allegiance.
 
Carl thanked Jo Cooper for taking care of Sergeant at Arms duties and Michael Houlsen for setting up Zoom.
 
Birthdays and Anniversaries: Each week birthdays and anniversaries wishes will be sent from the club via email with an electronic greeting card. Be on the lookout for yours!
 
Rotary Business/Upcoming events/Volunteer Opportunities:
 
Autumn Gold Pancake Breakfast – Saturday, September 27th from 7am-10am at EEMS. Kelly Brown sent an email out asking for help. We need propane tanks, cooks, etc. Please sign up to help.
 
Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive: Club members donated jars of peanut butter and jelly to the Bangor Savings Bank for their annual food drive to support local food insecurity programs. For every jar donated, Bangor Savings Bank will donate an additional jar!
 
 
Rotary Polio Walk:  Our club will hold its Annual Polio Walk in recognition of World Polio Day on Saturday, October 18th. All walkers will meet at Knowlton Park at 9:30am. The walk will start at 10:00am. We will proceed down State Street to the lower light on Main Street, walk up Main Street to School Street and return to Knowlton Park. A $20 donation is suggested to participate. Bring your family and friends along to help raise money to eradicate polio. Dogs are also welcome. Funds raised will go toward Rotary International’s End Polio Now efforts.
After the Polio Walk everyone is invited to Fogtown Brewery located at 25 Pine Street in Ellsworth from Noon to 3:00pm to order pizza and pints. Fogtown Brewery will be having a Pints for Polio where any pints sold, they will donate 10% towards Polio.
Ellsworth and Blue Hill YMCA Community Polio Walk: Join the YMCA in Ellsworth and Blue Hill walking club in the laps around the gym. We ask that participants gather sponsors for this Walk-A-Thon to raise awareness and donations for this worthy cause, Celebrate with us on October 23rd from 11am to Noon.

Rotary Food Drive – November 15th at the Ellsworth Hannaford Parking Lot. More details to come soon!
 
Partner Program: To date we have over collected $12,000! Debbie will bring the poster to next week’s meeting for all to see the businesses who have donated.

Door prizes were won by Lori Googins, Carl Lusby, Candy, Michael Houlsen Dave Wells, Fred Beyer, Laurie Fogelman and Mary Beth Harmon. Dave added to the door prize fun with “Let’s Make a Deal”. Lori swapped her prize for a Rotary Hat. Carl won a Dunkin gift card. Lots of fun!
 
Happy Dollars–  1st quarter Happy Dollars will be going towards Cody's Closet This is a great opportunity to support children in our Foster Care system in Maine and meet their needs. Several Rotarians shared happy thoughts.
 
Guest Speaker: Our guest speaker was Matthew Mank of Honor Flight Maine. He shared a presentation about the program. Honor Flight Maine provides Maine Veterans a free weekend trip to experience the profound beauty of the World War 2 Memorial, the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial and many other significant sites in Washington D.C. 
 
The club donated $500 to Honor Flight Maine and Matthew accepted the check.
 
1st Quarter Club Assembly: Committee chairs gave a summary from the past quarter and introduce any new plans over the next couple months. 
 
Polio Cups: Reminder to donate to Polio! For every $1 donated, 7 children are vaccinated.
 
Next week at Rotary-  Tuesday, September 30th - there is no meeting. A reminder email will be sent out.
