50/50: $14 won by Peter Farragher, who was $14 happy about the Down East Family YMCA of Ellsworth being chosen as the  2018 Top Drawer Award recipient by the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce.
 
Happy Dollars Highlights: This quarter’s Happy Dollars are going to the “pack a bag” portion of the Ellsworth Rotary Club’s March trip to the Dominican Republic to deliver wheelchairs.  Carl Lusby, Larry Johnston, Heidi Omlor. Micki Sumpter, Gene Pellerano, Julie Hanks Clark, Lincoln Ehrlenbach, Suellen Speed, Laurie Fogelman, Charlene Churchill, Marian Wells, Terri Stephens Smith, Marshall Smith, Fred Beyer, and Scott Kimball were all happy. Club Treasurer Domenic Efter announced that over $625 had been raised in Happy Dollars for the “pack a bag” initiative.  
 
Rotary Business:  
President Scott Kimball invited Marian Wells, Ashley Johnson and Carl Lusby to present Marc Rich to the members for induction into the Ellsworth Rotary Club. Welcome to the club Marc!
 
Clyde Cushing spoke about March volunteer opportunities for Everybody Eats; Gene Pellerano spoke about the Literacy Program; and Carl Lusby spoke about the upcoming Paul Harris Society committee meeting to discuss nominations for Paul Harris Awards.
 
Program/Speaker: The evening’s program was led by Vocational Chair Fred Beyer, who welcomed two Hancock County Technical Students being honored for their academic achievements: Hannah Sargent, a senior at Ellsworth High School with a nursing certification who is aspiring to be a physical therapist, and Sidney Hamilton, a junior at Ellsworth High School studying video production and graphic design.
 
Both students received a Rotary recognition certificate, T-shirt, and chamber bucks. Michelle Cote, an instructor of Hannah’s, spoke about Hannah’s accomplishments, and Stephanie McCann, a Clinical Nurse at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, gave a brief presentation on her own career in the nursing profession.
 
Ben Speed, instructor for Sidney Hamilton, spoke about Sidney’s achievements, and Rotarian Ashley Johnson presented her vocational story pertaining to graphic design. Hannah was joined by her parents and grandparents, and Sydney was joined by her father.  
 
The evening concluded with pictures of the student honorees and presentation of Ellsworth Rotary Speaker’s mug to Ms. McCann as a vocational speaker. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
